What is Kireia ™?
Anti-fog and anti-soil solutions "Kireia" is a technology developed by Dexerials that coats materials with the optimum material using a unique process, adding anti-fog and anti-fouling effects. By providing water- and oil-repellent properties and water (moisture) absorption, it suppresses fogging caused by water vapor and reduces the adhesion of dirt containing moisture and oil, while also providing resistance to surface scratches and peeling, maintaining high hardness and durability.

These are the results of an experiment in which water droplets were dropped onto a mirror treated with Kireia. On an untreated mirror, the water droplets collapsed and spread out, whereas on the treated mirror, the water contact angle was 110°, making the water droplets easier to wipe off. The comparison on the right shows the water-repellent effect of the water droplets.
Effective against oily stains
These are the results of an experiment in which the same character (Kireia) was written with an oil-based pen. The treated mirror repels oil, so the character cannot be written on. The repelled oil-based pen ink can be wiped off easily. On the untreated mirror, the character can be written clearly and cannot be wiped off.
Effective against everyday stains
We conducted an experiment in which toothpaste was applied and then wiped off. The processed mirror is resistant to dirt, so toothpaste can be wiped off easily with little force. The surface is also hard, making it scratch-resistant.

In an experiment * simulating a winter bathroom, we compared the degree of fogging. When comparing a woman reflected in a mirror, it became difficult to see her in the unprocessed mirror after about three minutes, but the processed mirror maintained a clear view for over 15 minutes.

How Kireia works
The multi-functional coating layer is made of a special resin that has both water absorption and water- and oil-repellent properties.
The multi-functional coating layer absorbs water vapor to prevent fogging and maintain clear visibility. When dry, it releases the absorbed water vapor, maintaining its moisture absorption properties.
Water droplets that are too large to be absorbed, as well as water-based and oil-based stains, are repelled by the surface and do not adhere easily, but even if they do adhere, they can be easily wiped off thanks to the smooth surface. The smooth surface also contributes to resistance to scratches caused by wiping.
