Dexerials Corporation (Headquarters: Shimotsuke-shi, Tochigi and Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan; Representative Director and President: Yoshihisa Shinya; hereinafter, “Dexerials”) announces that it has redesigned its work uniforms used in the six locations of the Dexerials Group for the first time since the beginning of operation and begun using a new work uniform, with the aim of creating a workplace environment where employees can work comfortably and with vitality.

New Work Uniform

The former work uniforms had been in use since 2012, when the company name was changed from Sony Chemicals Corporation to Dexerials Corporation. There were opinions about the former work uniforms, including those pointing out problems with fashionability and usability. The redesign was aimed at creating an environment where employees can work happily and comfortably and ensuring a unified look across the Dexerials Group. In September 2024, Dexerials established working groups consisting mainly of young and mid-career employees, who will lead the next generation. This group held considerations and deliberations for about six months, and the new work uniform design was determined through a company-wide vote.

The new work uniform was planned with an aim of striking a balance between Dexerials’ unique identity and functionality, and members of the working groups had been discussing the design and functionality since September 2024. The concept behind the completed new work uniform is “Wearable Philosophy.” It comes in a unique design that incorporates elements of Dexerials’ brand image, including its Purpose: Empower Evolution. Connect People and Technology.
In addition, reflecting requests from employees, who had expressed concerns about the previous work uniforms, the new uniform has been improved with features such as ease of movement, ease of storage, stretchability, antistatic property, and quick drying. At the same time, it comes in a bright and simple design with ivory and black used as base colors.

Dexerials took this redesign as an opportunity to unify work uniform across the Group, including Dexerials Photonics Solutions Corporation (hereinafter “DXPS”), a domestic Group company. This is aimed at fostering a sense of unity beyond organizational and location boundaries and enhancing Dexerials’ brand image.

Dexerials will continue to drive the creation of a safe and comfortable work environment for its employees, and through initiatives aimed at fostering a sense of unity within the Group, it will strive to enhance its corporate value on a sustainable basis.

In particular, female employees raised concerns about the uniforms’ fashionability, which, along with functionality, became a major focus of the redesign.

[Reflections on working group activities (Miki Hayashi, Production Department, Production Strategy Division)]
We exchanged opinions by considering differences in job duties and work environments. This made me feel how difficult it is to design a better work uniform. At the same time, the process of incorporating diverse perspectives and seeking the best possible solution was an invaluable experience and also brought us a great sense of accomplishment. When I saw everyone wearing the completed work uniform, I truly felt that all our efforts had come to fruition. I also felt a sense of unity that came from working with many people across different departments to create something together.

3.About the activities

In the working sessions, each group held in-depth discussions, such as identifying issues with the former work uniforms, determining which elements to incorporate into the new one based on those findings, and holding meetings with the work uniform manufacturer.

Former work uniforms

Based on the design proposals, which reflected each group’s passion, a presentation meeting was held and a company-wide vote was carried out.
The voting became a major topic among employees and helped boost in-house engagement.

Based on the proposal selected through a company-wide vote, all working group members further reviewed functionality, made additional design adjustments, and completed the final design.
